I am a horrible blogger, it is true. The only thing I manage to post over here are the links to the Chasing Summer series, and although my motorcycle travel blog is at least (more or less) consistently updated, it is also about 3 months behind in actual events. (Minus the last 2 where I had to skip ahead to the present time, because people must just be scratching their heads in wonder and going WTF?)
But the best part about being on this trip is how the spontaneity has come back! The first 6 weeks we were under time pressure, and I found myself wondering how one of our trips had become about kilometres and deadlines. Since Mongolia however every day has been something new, and completely unplanned. To an organized brain its a terror. To me it is sheer bliss and what a motorcycle adventure is all about!
We sold the bikes on a Saturday.
Saturday afternoon we booked a flight to Bangkok, and then asked if a stopover in Seoul was possible. Found out it was and on Wednesday we were in culinary bliss for an entire week.
Arrived in Bangkok last Tuesday night, spent the week visiting a friend in hospital and checking out Honda dealers. Yesterday we get an email from a Malaysian dealer saying he can sell us two 125 cc scooter/motorcycle hybrid things. As in legally and in our names! (Something that in Thailand was proving to be a challenge!)
Great, then Malaysia it is!
Booked the train tickets today! This time last week we had no inkling we would end up in Malaysia! 2 weeks before that we thought Korea was out because we were not going to Vladivostok.
I love motorcycle travel, even if it is without a motorcycle at the moment! 😛
And I promise to return to blogging, now that things on this trip have settled down!
