Episode 4 is the first episode where we are really underway on our trip. Unfortunately it focuses on the 2 countries we whizzed through in a mad race to meet up with Joscha and Ed in Romania (You can find their trip on Journizer as well). In terms of landscape for first time riders however Hungary was great. The flat landscape meant that Patrick was a little bored, but after cruising though Austria and dropping my bike in front of ummmm, oooo, 80 bikers at a cafe at the bottom of the mountain, I was ready to slow down in terms of mountains and get a little more comfortable in the curves. (Listen to me talking about curves in the video, oooh how it foreshadows my future on this trip!)
As a language teacher however I really do not want my students to see these videos. Not just because I become a tongue tied weirdo whenever the camera is pointed at me and I say something stupid (that would be a reason not to let anyone see it ever), but because I slip into McDonald´s speak. As an English language trainer the one topic I dread is teaching present continuous and then having to explain state verbs. 90% of the students don’t get it. You may then lay the blame at the teachers feet, but they always bring up McDonald´s with its ” Im LOVING it” campaign. How do I fight with that? But even worse, I say it myself in the video.
Shot of the place where I dropped the bike with such grace:
Enjoy, and forgive my dirty dirty laugh, I honestly had no idea just how dirty my laugh could be before.
